The Creamery Restaurant, Inn(B&B), Special Event Center, Cafe and Bakery closed effective Monday, October 25th.

Thank you, thank you for supporting our business! We have thoroughly enjoyed being your hosts. It has been both a pleasure and an honor to have had you as guests at our inn, for dinner or brunch, or at a special event. Although we have poured our heart, soul and all of our resources into the business for the past three years we have been unable to secure investors or financing with terms the business can manage. Our plan and vision of what The Creamery can be without a legitimate (long term), major investor and/or partner makes it impossible for us to continue.

We had great success in bringing the most fresh, best tasting, local fare to our guests and employing individuals who shared in our vision of providing real, carefully prepared food in a beautiful location. It has been very satisfying breathing new life into this beautiful building and the overall property. Thank the Gods for the amazing local talent! From the staff in our kitchen, bake shop and front of the house, to the purveyors growing food, raising cattle, pigs, chickens, bison, rabbits and making soap, maple syrup and honey; we certainly served the best the area has to offer!

The futures of The Creamery, Chef Nathan Berg, Paula and Terry are unknown. However, we welcome keeping you, our email subscribers current for a time. We may need to let you know where Nathan is chefing (other than at our house)! We wish everyone dining experiences where fresh food is prepared with integrity and passion; and if inclined, alongside a stellar beer or a lovely wine.

Cheers, happy eating, and abundance to all!

LIVE MUSIC TO FINISH OFF THE DAY

Come out and get a little local Downsville flavor on Saturday, August 28th. A yearly happening and always a festive day in Downsville! This year we have live entertainment all day and into the night. The festivities begin at 10:00 with a parade. Food and live music outside on the lawn at The Creamery begins at noon. Later in the afternoon we have the Blind Owls at 4:00 p.m. (Spring Valley, WI duo) and that evening at 7:00 p.m. our lovely friend, Carolyn Young and her band (Minneapolis folks, Jezabel and The Roys). Our other beautiful friend, Herby from Bullfrog Fish Farm will be serving up trout sandwiches out front which can be enjoyed with a cold glass of local brew. A relaxed day here at The Creamery and a wonderful way to support Downsville!

Our new lunch style and menu has gained guests’ approval!

We have many guests who have enjoyed the informality of our deli-style Cafe and Bakery. The bikers and hikers as well as those looking for a great ice cream find the walk-up counter easy and inviting! Conversely, we have had a number of guests express to us that they miss a more “formal” lunch.

We were compelled to add a more extensive lunch menu with “tableside” service: Thursday and Friday’s focus is on “lunch” type items such as seasonal pastas, salads, sandwiches and housemade pizzas. Saturday and Sunday the focus is expanded to include brunch options such as pancakes, french toast, trout cake eggs benedict and quiche.

Thanks to our guests for the feedback! We truly focus on giving our guests the best experience possible. We always appreciate input that can enhance all of our guests’ experience.

It is very gratifying to us to see both new and familiar faces this spring at The Creamery! We greedily embrace the arrival of warm temperatures and the beauty of our ever changing gardens. Much rain this week equals happy herbs, and flowers. Come out to see us, have a bite, enjoy our grounds and the Red Cedar River and Trail. Have a great Summer!
